Getting ahead of the curve – pre-harvest planning in a year of rising costs

As harvest approaches, many UK farmers are feeling the pinch of rising input costs. Fertiliser, agchem, fuel and machinery parts are all noticeably more expensive this year, and with unpredictable commodity prices, getting value for money has never been more important.

At Woldmarsh, we know this time of year can be a logistical challenge. Everything happens at once – fields need combining, stores need clearing, inputs need reordering, and breakdowns need fixing fast. That's why a bit of forward planning can go a long way in saving time, money and stress.

Stock up before the rush

Sourcing AgChem, Fertiliser and even wrap and net ahead of the busy period means you’re less likely to face supply delays or price spikes. We’re already seeing increased lead times on certain products, so talk to the team now to make sure you’ve got what you need.

Check your kit and fuel levels

Combine breakdowns don’t wait for a quiet moment. Whether it’s a new belt, bearing or just grease, it pays to get your parts orders in early. And don’t forget to check fuel tanks – deliveries can take longer in peak season, so placing a top-up order now could save you a headache later.

Lean on your membership

Our members benefit from competitive pricing across the board, not to mention access to priority supplier arrangements and expert support from the team. If you’re not yet making full use of your Woldmarsh membership – whether that’s for crop inputs, vehicle hire or utilities support – now’s the time to start.

One less thing to worry about

This harvest, our goal is to help members focus on what they do best – farming – without getting bogged down in admin or last-minute scrambles. If you’re unsure about pricing, availability or need help setting up an account with a supplier, just get in touch.

Let’s make this season as smooth and successful as possible – together.
